On Making a Difference

In a world that is rife with chaos and destruction—damage and loss from Hurricane Ian, protests for body autonomy in Iran, bombing in Ukraine—it’s easy to feel helpless…like you aren’t able to make a real difference.

Don’t believe that. Every Act of Love matters.

“There are so many injustices in the world, so much suffering, that it’s easy to get stuck in the molasses of helplessness. The brilliant Burmese diplomat Aung San Suu Kyi says, “If you’re feeling helpless, help someone.” — Excerpt from The Divine Feminine Oracle Deck by Meggan Watterson

The call you made to your lonely aunt, the meal you provided to a grieving friend, the way you responded with love and patience to your child who was in a moment of big upset, the petition you signed, the email you sent to your representative, the truth you voiced to your family, the donation you gave, the tree you planted, the vote you cast, the cans you took to the recycling center—every one of these actions count.

Big, systemic change cannot happen on an individual level. It’s too big for one person to do. That doesn’t mean we can’t do our part and contribute how we are able. It does mean, however, that when we focus solely on the big issues facing our planet at this time, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed and discouraged.

Don’t linger there. Remember small actions (made with great love) consistently over time create incredible transformation.

This is why I count the dog fostering we do as a way we make a difference. No this isn’t addressing racial inequity or gay rights or women’s rights or climate change or other things we care deeply about—and, these actions still matter.

You seeing and counting the love you’re already giving will make you want to give more. That’s the nature of Love. It will also fill you up as you give, because giving really is receiving—when we give from our True Nature.

Go ahead and make a list of all the loving actions you’ve taken so far this week. Let them land. Take them in. Make them count, and see what happens next.

To the difference you’re already making!

With Fierce Loving,
Amber
ps: Here are a few no cost/low cost actions I love that you can take to help Mother Earth today.

1. Switch Your Search Engine to Ecosia

Ecosia is a search engine that has been around since late 2009 and is founded on the idea that the company will use its profits from your searches to plant trees all over the world. With every 11 searches they plant a tree.

How cool is that?

Make the switch here.
