I’ve noticed a pattern in my life: the more I focus on my business, the more time I spend in my masculine energy.
To me, the masculine is strong, powerful & dynamic and rides on the energy of make it happen / get it done. There’s an element of force.
The feminine energy can be strong, powerful & dynamic, but in a different way. To me it’s softer, gentler and rides on the energy of allowing things to unfold. There’s an element of space and surrender.
One is not better than the other. We need both and have both within us.
But, I do find that as a female, when I spend the majority of my time in ‘getting things done’ (masculine energy), I feel depleted and somewhat out of touch with my connection to Spirit. Maybe a better way to say that is I don’t find myself as willing to surrender and trust.
Last week after launching the free preview call for bodyheart program, I spent two days over the weekend in bed, recovering. As I laid there, I reconnected with my center and Source. And I started thinking, “There has got to be a better way.”
[Side note: This is the same path I took with my relationship with my body in 2008. After 20+ years of participating in an abusive relationship with her, I finally decided to seek out something different than the magic pill approach I was used to. I started thinking, “There has got to be a better way.” Turned out that was the best experiment I could’ve asked for, so I’m hopeful the same will happen this time around.]
What came to mind as I let my thoughts marinate was the concept of receiving. By definition to receive is:
1. to take into one’s possession (something offered or delivered): to receive gifts.
2. to have (something) bestowed, conferred, etc.: to receive an honorary degree.
3. to have delivered or brought to one: to receive a letter.
4. to get or be informed of: to receive instructions; to receive news.
Receptivity is a highly feminine quality and one I’ve been feeling disconnected from.
In a world that values productivity so much and reinforces the idea of quantity over quality, it’s not easy to slow down and allow the path to show itself.
Receptivity requires openness. And openness requires vulnerability. Again, not always easy in our do-do-do, guarded world.
But, what if it could be easier? What if I (or you) welcomed assistance from the magical powers that be. What if creating space resulted in way for me (& you) to get MORE done?
So, I’ve decided to play with that this month. I’m a fan of experimentation. I love trying things out and seeing how they fit. And, I’m inviting you to join me.
October is my month of receiving. For 31 Days in a row I am focusing on opening my heart and allowing gifts to come into my life. I’m asking myself the question: How easy can success be for me today? How easy can spreading the message of bodyheart be today? How easy can it be to take care of myself today?
You get it, right?
To help me as I fully invest in this receiving experiment, I would love your support. In the comments below, please share how you balance the masculine and feminine. What do you do to bring your feminine qualities forward. I’m serious. I really wanna know!
Lastly, if you are interested in joining me for a month of receiving, please share it in the comments below. Share your intention and ways you plan to support yourself as you move through the month.
I’m excited to share the results. So far, I’m really pleased.
As always, thank you for your big heart + contribution to this community. Keep shining your big bright light!
Love,
Amber
Month of receiving…. GO! I’m on board. A big element in that for me is always always always breathing. As openly as possible. As if in yoga class. Breathe it in. Let’s do it. Love you.
I love your thoughts Amber! I also feel this happening in my life and observe it everywhere…
For me the way to stay connected with my female energy is through a daily practice of keeping my sensuousness alive.
I’m so grateful to have found you some days ago and receive your mail right now 🙂 as I have just created a project to help us all to stay in the sensual flow in our daily lives. I’ll be sending weekly inspiration and actionable techniques that I created over the past 20 years of finding and loosing my connection…. It will be online on Monday, but you can join the newsletter on my old page to get instantly involved <3
Thanks so much for your amazing work dear Amber! I didn't dive into your 3daybooster yet, as I'm launching while staying connected 😉 But I can't wait!
With love!
Coco
Count me in!
As a woman that chronically makes things harder on myself than necessary, I look forward to a new approach. The other is totally unsustainable, and after my own past few days in resistance recovery I’m game.
My thoughts are that I will focus on being more tuned into cues and signs from the universe~ who and what to let go of and quit fighting the current so damn much. Resistance is the biggest way in which I’m rough on myself. That whole “trust” thing will be my mantra this month. Whether it be with my art business (I’m a painter), with my relationships, with my health…. Questioning the resistant thought patterns, and not damning myself when I find myself in a resistant negative feedback loop. Self acceptance for the win!
Love you Amber!
You rock!
This post was so powerful for me at this time in my life where I am totally working on balancing these two qualities of feminine and masculine energies that we all embody. It’s quite a seesaw of action and surrender and grace and motivation. Personally, I find the way to balance these forces is through dance, specifically Gabrielle Roth’s work of the 5 Rhythms which is powerful movement expressions that travel through all of the human oppositional forces and brings them into union and transformation and peace. When I dance, magic always happens. Thank you so much for your work.
Hi Amber. This is GREAT!
I love a sweet, super slow, sexy sensual hip roll to access my feminine energy. It works every time.
Yes, I’ll receive with you for the month of October.
My intention is to receive from loved ones, and even ask for help instead of pushing forward in my masculine energy.
Ahhhhh . . . . life is good!
Thank you for the inspiration.
With a hip roll,
Joni
Amber, this might be one of my favorite posts you’ve ever written. Congrats on really reflecting on what you are doing and how you want to do it. There is always another way! Hope you have a lovely October of receiving and I can’t wait to read about what you’ve learned through making such a shift.
xoxo
Amber,
Yes. This is beautiful. A pleasure to discover your work. I am too, learning to receive on so many levels. A lover of feminine energy and feminine space myself, I appreciate your thoughts and feelings on a highly undervalued quality, capacity, ability. We are feeling the calling to balance our lives by expressing more of the healing feminine. Best wishes!
I loved this article. I never really stopped to consider the differences between masculine and feminine energies, but I think that the way you put it makes a lot of sense. I think in our go, go, go world, a lot of the time masculine energy is seen as the more productive and desirable. However, as your article points out, it is really important to balance that mentality with the need for rest and rejuvenation. Thank you for the great read!
A quick comment for all: I’ve discovered a website called The Receiving Project. I signed up for her 32-Day Project – It’s free. It’s a simple email in your inbox each day reminding you to set your intention to receive. If you are interested: http://www.receivingproject.com/.
Please know, I have no direct connection with the creator of that program and I cannot testify to the results, but it is something I am enjoying and thought you might too.
@Nili – Yes. So far this experiment is A-Mazing! I appreciate your suggestion of breath. Simple yet very very powerful.
@Coco – Congrats on your new program. It sounds awesome and so needed. Thanks for sharing about it with us all. Glad you are honoring taking care of yourself.
@Katerina – So beautiful. Trust and surrender…and enjoying some ease. Hope you are noticing a difference. 🙂
@Stephanie – Thank you for this reminder. I used to go to ecstatic dance class all the time and have let that go for a number of reasons. I too find dance an absolutely freeing outlet. I’m excited to get back into it.
@Joni – Thank you so much. So happy to have you joining in the fun. And, yes, hip rolls are delicious.
@Paloma – What a lovely comment to receive. Thank you so much. I always appreciate your loving support and encouragement. Thank you for reading and sharing. xoxo
@Marjory – Welcome to the community I’m so glad you are here. I love that you bring up the word capacity – our capacity to receive. That creates such a beautiful image in my mind. We are expanding that capacity this month!
@Lingerie Off Price – Thank you so much. I appreciate you reading and commenting. Really lovely to connect.
I just want to thank you for being courageous and doing what you do. I have been reading your blogs and watching your videos and you have given me the permission I believe to truly start to love and receive again. I am a giver of my love, time, appreciation and much more; however, at times I forget that I need to receive the same in return. Thank you again and I appreciate all that you do.
Dear Sally: So lovely to connect with you. I appreciate your kind words and I’m excited for you. There’s something really beautiful that happens inside when we shift into the space of receiving. Light ahead to ease and grace for you Sally. Love, A
