In some ways, I've been a seeker of truth all my life. Over the last few years, my devotion to that subject has grown in tremendous ways.
It started in 2019 when one of our rescue dogs bit someone in our home.
The person, a dog lover, requested to meet our dog. I said no and explained why—he was displaying new, unpredictable behavior with strangers. After visiting for a while, the person pleaded to meet him. It was at that moment that I collapsed. I gave instructions on how to engage with him. The person didn't follow those instructions and the bite occurred.
This led to a lawsuit that lasted three years—a very emotionally taxing, painful season in my life, and also a period of deep growth and learning.
I had a clear knowing not to allow the person to meet our dog, that's why I said no at first. So, why did I collapse the moment the person said, “Please, please may I meet him”? Why did I ignore my truth?
This question plagued me. I would lay in bed at night playing that moment over and over—why didn't I say no?
My answer: Conditioning.
My desire to be pleasing, to be liked, to make other people happy overrode my knowing.
I wondered where else this was showing up in my life. Turned out everywhere; thus, my devotion to more deeply understanding and living my truth.
Applying this new commitment hasn't been easy (still isn't), and it's been worth it. My life and relationships have dramatically improved because of my willingness to be more me than ever before.
I'm happier and more at peace because I am more consistently in coherence with my mind, heart, and body. This is a deeper definition of integrity.
I don't think there is anything more impactful and rewarding than living your truth. That's why I'm inviting you to join me for:
