How to Decide What to Create Next
There's no way around it. Content creation is a part of growing a thriving coaching practice.
Content creation includes more than churning out posts or videos on social media. It encompasses everything from podcasts, newsletters, books, speaking, facilitating workshops/retreats/groups or even leading conversations amongst team members.
At some point and time in your coaching journey, you will be invited to and/or inspired to create material that serves your community.
Two of my clients are in that place right now. They are clear on the form. They want to lead a workshop, but they don't yet know the focus for the day.
How to Decide
There are so many ways to decide what to highlight, and today I'm going to focus on the one I've relied on most in my work…my personal experience.
Everything I've created in my coaching practice started with my own experiential learning. I had healing in my relationship with my body and wanted to share that with others—that is where my coaching practice began. Since then I've evolved to include money, partnership, leadership, love, and so on.
Never discount your own growth as a place of inspiration. The journey you've been through, and what helped you get to the other side are valuable for others. My general guideline is: if something is helpful to me, it will likely be helpful to others.
What topic causes you to come alive?
What can't you stop talking about?
What have you gotten to the other side of—or further down the road on—that you see will serve others?
There is rich content in those answers.
Looking outside of yourself for inspiration is fine. Certainly, themes you're seeing amongst your clients are a beautiful place to look.
I caution looking at what other coaches are creating as a source of inspiration. You can do it—and you want to make sure you're neutral inside. Our egos can be very tricky and before you know it you're leading something you think you “should” create (in order to be seen a certain way or have a certain result) vs. something you want to birth into the world.
I don't recommend creating from “should”. I've been there. It's not so fun.
Wherever you are on your content journey know that what's going on inside of you is plenty to bring value to the world.
With loving,
Amber
ps: I've just launched my newest mastermind program based on my experience, once again. I've seen the incredible miracles that have happened in my life (hello, healing my migraines) since using my entire being to plug into Source on the daily. I can't stop talking about ways to expand your capacity to feel good and how to use your body, heart, and mind to support you in that process. It's revolutionary—especially for the times we're living in. You can read more about Discover, Live, Trust Your Truth right here.
