Fear, Fires, and Finding Clarity

We made it through the first full week of the year—and, boy, was it a doozy!

Here in the US, the East Coast faced a substantial snowstorm that caused widespread disruptions. Meanwhile, in Los Angeles, we endured (and are still enduring) a record-breaking windstorm and multiple wildfires, leaving thousands displaced, homeless, or living in uncertainty—myself included.

(As of Friday afternoon, our power has been restored, and the evacuation notice has been lifted. Another evacuation alert came through for a different fire, but thankfully, that situation has also been resolved. Our car is packed, and we're ready to go if or when the time comes. I'm incredibly grateful for our firefighters and first responders—they truly are walking miracles.)

Evacuation mode is a lot of things: terrifying at its worst, clarifying at its best.

On Tuesday, around 11 p.m., our neighbor called to say he saw flames across the mountain ridge. My husband and I shot out of bed and rushed to the backyard, where we saw the eerie, unmistakable streak of red cutting through the darkness—distant yet far too close for comfort. (Pics here.)

Feeling the rush of adrenaline, we stumbled into action, unsure where to begin. We pulled out the water pump, generator, and suitcases. Our debate over what to do next was abruptly interrupted by the sharp blare of the LA Fire Department alert on our phones: “Be ready to evacuate.”

Here's where things got interesting.

Something unexpected happened: the noise faded. We naturally slowed down and got clear.

Out of our abundance of stuff—clothes, shoes, beauty products, files, and memorabilia—we instinctively knew what to take and what to leave behind. It felt as though life had slowed to a crawl. The sense of calm in that moment was stunning…until it was hijacked by raging fear!

This dance between fear and clarity continues—and it got me thinking about how most of us start the new year.

We innocently (and often unconsciously) build it from the illusion of clarity. Our ego, masquerading as the soul, tells us to be better, push harder, and create more money/power/success this year.

This is the self-improvement model in action—one steeped in the misunderstanding that you're not good enough as you are. It quietly fuels the story of unworthiness, reinforcing the belief that your value is tied to how much you achieve, improve, or push yourself. That somehow, safety and security can be found in more success.

But true clarity doesn't come from that place. The more we strive, the more we reinforce the illusion of separation. Clear direction arises when we slow down and connect with the stillness within—the wisdom of our true nature.

When we live and create from that place, it feels different. There's no sense of lack to fix or fill, just a grounded sense of peace and possibility.

This was my experience in that moment after receiving the evacuation alert. I didn't do anything to create that deepening. It just happened, and I allowed it.

This is what my upcoming workshop, Reclaiming Your Truth is all about.

It's not about setting goals from fear or ego, but about dropping into the truth of who you are, rediscovering your inner wisdom, and building your life from there.

What if 2025 was the year you chose self-realization, trust, and surrender?

You've done the self-improvement model—we all have! It has its place, and it's gotten us where we are—individually and as a collective. That's wonderful—and there's more. As I look around at the world in its current state, it seems to me that there's got to be a better way.

Everything in my being says that reconnecting to and reclaiming your Truth is that way.

If this resonates with you, there's still time to join me for this two-day workshop.

In light of what's happening here in LA, I've decided to keep the early-bird price as the regular price for everyone. No increases, no extra stress.

All sessions will be recorded and shared with registrants afterwards.

The fee is $225, and enrollment closes at the end of the day on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, to give participants time to prepare.

This isn't just a workshop. It's a moment to pause, to breathe, to come together, and reconnect with what matters most.

If you feel called, I'd love for you to join me.

You can learn more and sign up here.

In the meantime, stay safe, love big, and take care of yourself.

With loving,
Amber
